A true blue MU SIGMA Phian exudes an aura of self-confidence – because she knows her worth, her beauty, her faith, her conviction, her smarts.

She is pure in heart, with her priority being set on service – to her family, her community, her loved ones, and even those that she does not know, but identifies as needing help. Service is in her blood. Sometimes even to the point that she’ll give the shirt off her back for someone’s needs – that is the true sense of sacrifice.

Years ago, when we went thru our rites to join this Sorority, we were acquainted with the duty of maintaining a way of living based on merits of purity and scholarship. The understanding to this is to maintain a certain decorum that we as members should abide by. For us to show the whole university a united front where when identified as a member, we are looked up to because of our good behavior and exceptional grades. But little did we know that with living these qualities early on in our lives, we bring with us a wealth of wisdom, truest of friendships and resilience in hard times, preparing us for the real world outside of San Agustin, and beyond.

When you read thru the MU SIGMA PHI Sorority history, it was mentioned “In recognition thereof, they used the first letters of Merits on Scholarship and Purity. In the Greek alphabet, these are MU SIGMA PHI. Rightly so, because all of them were top ranking honor students (all graduates with honors, some topped their respective classes and board topnotchers)”. Even then, the expectations were already set for us women aiming to be members of this prestigious sorority. It’s a high bar that was set but rightfully so, so we can maintain what our charter sisters have established and it’s our duty to uphold.

For the past 6 decades, women we call MU SIGMA PHIans have walked the halls of the University of San Agustin. Some of us have led various college student organizations and even a few sat in the Student Council. We have a way of gaining and earning not only our classmates’ votes, but also of other students in the University that are familiar of the MU SIGMA PHIan way. MU SIGMA PHIan are elected because Augustinians know that we are trustworthy and will lead by example. MU SIGMA PHIans have left legacies in the walls and halls of the Blanco Hall, Mendel Hall, Aguirre Hall, Rada Hall and other buildings in the university. We have ran and played around in the grounds and the soccer fields during our fraternity festival weeks. We have sang our hearts out and our voices echoing the walls of the Chapel on the 2nd floor of the Fray Luis de Leon hall, and hang out with our brother SIGMA CHIans on top of the water reservoir beside the Library entrance. All the laughter and talks and secrets that we have shared with each other are the foundation of a beautiful camaraderie that we have forged then and still enjoying til this day.

More than ever, we MU SIGMA PHIans need to come together, to show not only the University but the whole world that we can stand the test of time. And the challenge of our time right now is to be able to bring back the Sorority in the University of San Agustin, to its former glory. We can do this. Fight! Fight! Fight!
